Our recommended starting point for a finished Canadian house: wireless CCTV cameras with an NVR and hard disk, plus viewing on your TV and phone.
PLAN YOUR HOME SECURITYVIEW A TYPICAL CANADIAN HOUSE CASE
This supplied project illustrates a typical security layout for a Canadian house with a driveway, side access and a backyard. Four outdoor camera views bring the front entrance, driveway, side passage and rear deck together on one TV.

For a house with a front entrance, driveway, side passage and backyard, these four views offer a practical starting point. Match camera positions to your property’s layout and the routes you use.

See the parking area and vehicle positions from the house.
Bring the narrow access route between properties into view.
Include the rear outdoor space and the approach to the back door.
For a finished Canadian house, discuss compatible cameras, a local NVR and hard-disk recording, plus TV and supported phone viewing. Wireless data connections can reduce new cable routes in a finished house; camera power, mounting and signal coverage still need a site plan.
Choose a coordinated camera and recorder system with the features your home needs.
A compatible NVR connects to a TV or monitor through its supported video output, such as HDMI. See multiple camera views together and review recorded footage locally.
Use the supported app for live viewing and playback. Remote viewing requires internet connectivity and a properly configured, secure account.
An NVR brings compatible cameras into one local recording system. Hard-disk capacity, recording schedules and retention are sized around camera count and your needs.
Wireless video connections reduce the need to run long camera-data cables through finished rooms. For many Canadian houses, this can mean fewer new cable routes and less disturbance to existing decoration.
Camera power and mounting still need a plan. Powered wireless cameras need a suitable supply; walls, distance and interference affect the connection. We review placement, signal coverage and any drilling or power work before proposing an installation.
A practical option when running new network cables through the house would be disruptive. Review camera power and wireless coverage alongside a compatible NVR and hard disk.
ASK ABOUT WIRELESS CCTVIf Ethernet was preinstalled during construction, a compatible wired PoE system may use those cable runs for camera data and power. We check cable condition, endpoints and recorder compatibility before recommending a setup.
ASK ABOUT CABLED CCTVConfirm equipment compatibility and installation requirements for your house.
Viewing, recording and app features depend on the selected cameras and recorder. Wireless reduces data cabling; it does not remove all power, mounting or network connections.
The supplied photograph shows an outdoor parking-area view on a TV. Consider the driveway, side access and rear areas when planning home coverage. Choose wireless or cabled connections around the power and network infrastructure available at your home.
